# CancelJobRun


Cancels a job run. A job run is a unit of work, such as a Spark jar, PySpark script, or SparkSQL query, that you submit to Amazon EMR on EKS.

## Request Syntax

DELETE /virtualclusters/virtualClusterId/jobruns/jobRunId HTTP/1.1
```

## URI Request Parameters


The request uses the following URI parameters.

 ** [jobRunId](#API_CancelJobRun_RequestSyntax) **   <a name="emroneks-CancelJobRun-request-uri-id"></a>
The ID of the job run to cancel.  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 64.  
Pattern: `[0-9a-z]+`   
Required: Yes

 ** [virtualClusterId](#API_CancelJobRun_RequestSyntax) **   <a name="emroneks-CancelJobRun-request-uri-virtualClusterId"></a>
The ID of the virtual cluster for which the job run will be canceled.  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 64.  
Pattern: `[0-9a-z]+`   
Required: Yes

The request does not have a request body.

## Response Elements


If the action is successful, the service sends back an HTTP 200 response.

The output contains the ID of the cancelled job run.
