# GetInstanceProfile


 Retrieves information about the specified instance profile, including the instance profile's path, GUID, ARN, and role. For more information about instance profiles, see [Using instance profiles](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/IAM/latest/UserGuide/id_roles_use_switch-role-ec2_instance-profiles.html) in the *IAM User Guide*.

## Request Parameters


 For information about the parameters that are common to all actions, see [Common Parameters](CommonParameters.md).

 ** InstanceProfileName **   
The name of the instance profile to get information about.  
This parameter allows (through its [regex pattern](http://wikipedia.org/wiki/regex)) a string of characters consisting of upper and lowercase alphanumeric characters with no spaces. You can also include any of the following characters: \$1\$1=,.@-  
Type: String  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 128.  
Pattern: `[\w+=,.@-]+`   
Required: Yes

## Response Elements


The following element is returned by the service.

 ** InstanceProfile **   
A structure containing details about the instance profile.  
Type: [InstanceProfile](API_InstanceProfile.md) object

## Errors


For information about the errors that are common to all actions, see [Common Error Types](CommonErrors.md).

 ** NoSuchEntity **   
The request was rejected because it referenced a resource entity that does not exist. The error message describes the resource.  
HTTP Status Code: 404

 ** ServiceFailure **   
The request processing has failed because of an unknown error, exception or failure.  
HTTP Status Code: 500
