# Devices
<a name="console-devices"></a>

Each WorkSpaces Thin Client end user has a dedicated device that connects them to their virtual desktop environments and online resources. These devices are managed through the WorkSpaces Thin Client administrator console on the [AWS site](https://aws.amazon.com/).

From this console, you can order devices for your team.

## Device list

There are a number of parameters for any device in your network for you to review as well as some actions you can take.

### Device list details
<a name="device-list-details"></a>

The parameters for your device are listed for your review. The following table lists each element in the summary and how it functions.

|  Device serial number  |  The identification number assigned to an individual device.  | 
|  Device name  |  (optional) The unique name that you give to a device.  | 
|  Last used by  |  The identification number of the user accessing the device. Only available when using WorkSpaces Personal.  | 
|  Activity status  |  The current status of a device. There are two status states: [\[See the AWS documentation website for more details\]](http://docs.aws.amazon.com/workspaces-thin-client/latest/ag/console-devices.html)  | 
|  Enrollment status  |  Confirmation that a device has been set up, is associated with this AWS account, and is part of a specific environment. It can be in one of the following states: [\[See the AWS documentation website for more details\]](http://docs.aws.amazon.com/workspaces-thin-client/latest/ag/console-devices.html)  | 
|  Environment ID  |  The identifier of the environment to which this device is attached.  | 
|  Software compliance  |  The compliance status of the device software. There are two status states: [\[See the AWS documentation website for more details\]](http://docs.aws.amazon.com/workspaces-thin-client/latest/ag/console-devices.html)  | 

### Device list actions

There are a number of actions you can perform from here. Select any of these to perform the corresponding action.

When you select an device, the WorkSpaces Thin Client console displays the details for that device for you to review. The console also displays the details about the device's network type and connected peripherals.

# Summary

The Summary section provides a high-level overview of the key features of the WorkSpaces Thin Client device. The following table lists each element in the summary and how it functions.

|  ARN  |  The unique identifier for the device in Amazon Resource Name (ARN) format.  | 
|  Device name  |  The name that you give to a device. If you have not created a name, you can name it, or it will get a default name.  | 
|  Device type  |  The type of end user device that is linked to the account.  |

|  Environment ID  |  The identification number of the environment that the device uses.  |

|  Scheduled for software update  |  The scheduled software version on the device.  |

# Device settings

**Note**  
Device settings information is updated only when device is online. If device is offline, some information may be out of date.

## Heading and Network
<a name="device-settings-network"></a>

WorkSpaces Thin Client device details provides an overview of the device's network connections. The following table lists each element and how it functions.

| Element | Description | 
| --- | --- | 
|  Last synced on  |  The date and time of the most recent device settings sync with console.  | 
|  Connection type  |  The type of network connection used by the device. The connection type can either be Ethernet or Wifi.  | 
|  Status  |  The status of the network. If the device is currently connected, or connected within the past 20 minutes, the status will show up as ‘connected’. If the network has been disconnected for more than 20 min, the status will change to show the time passed since the device is last connected to internet, e.g. “last connected 20 minutes ago”.  | 
|  Local IP address  |  The local IP address of the connected network.  | 
|  Gateway address  |  The gateway address of the connected network.  | 

## Bluetooth and peripheral devices

WorkSpaces Thin Client device details provide a list of any connected peripherals connect to a device. The following table lists each element and how it functions.

|  Bluetooth  |  The Bluetooth status of the device. The two status states are: [\[See the AWS documentation website for more details\]](http://docs.aws.amazon.com/workspaces-thin-client/latest/ag/device-details-settings.html)  | 
|  Connected peripheral devices  |  The list of names of the connected peripherals, such as Logitech mouse, and the type of the connected peripherals, such as Mouse (USB).  | 

## Power and sleep
<a name="device-settings-sleep"></a>

Each WorkSpaces Thin Client device has a power saving mode. The following table lists the status of this mode.

# User Activity
<a name="device-user-activity"></a>

This tab shows the log of a specific device's setup and usage information. The following table lists each element of this log.

| --- | --- | 
|  Device accessed on  |  The date and time the device is activated.  | 
|  User ID  |  The identification number of the user accessing the device.  | 
|  Virtual desktop service  |  The virtual desktop service the device uses.  | 
|  Virtual desktop service ID  |  The virtual desktop service ID number associated with the user.  | 
|  IP address  |  The identification number of the IP accessing the device.  | 
|  Event type  |  Details on how the device is being used.  | 

**Note**  
With the exception of WorkSpaces Personal, VDIs only show a **Login initiated** event.

You can use the search bar above the table to find specific information in the table. You can also filter the table results by date and time.

You can export the table to a csv file by selecting the **Export details** button.

# Editing a device name
<a name="editing-a-device-name"></a>

1. Select the device that you want to edit. You can either browse through the dropdown list or you can search for device by using the search field.

1. Select the **Actions** button.

1. Select **Edit device name** from the dropdown list. The **Edit device name** window appears.

1. Enter the new device name in the **Device name** confirmation field.

1. Select the **Save** button.

# Resetting and deregistering a device
<a name="resetting-and-deregsitering-a-device"></a>

1. Select the device that you want to deregister. You can either browse through the dropdown list or you can search for the device by using the search field.

1. Select the **Actions** button.

1. Select **Deregister** from the dropdown list. The **Deregister** window appears.

1. Enter "deregister" in the confirmation field.

1. Select the **Deregister** button.

**Note**  
Deregistering forcibly logs out the user and require a reboot of their WorkSpaces Thin Client device in the middle of a session.

# Archiving a device
<a name="archiving-a-device"></a>

1. Select the device that you want to archive. You can either browse through the dropdown list or you can search for the device by using the search field.

1. Select the **Actions** button.

1. Select **Archive** from the dropdown list. The **Archive** window appears.

1. Enter "reset and archive" in the confirmation field.

1. Select the **Reset and archive** button.

**Note**  
Archiving a device forcibly logs out the user and require a reboot of their WorkSpaces Thin Client device in the middle of a session.

# Deleting a device
<a name="deleting-a-device"></a>

1. Select the device that you want to delete. You can either browse through the dropdown list or you can search for the device by using the search field.

1. Select the **Actions** button.

1. Select **Delete** from the dropdown list. The **Delete** window appears.

1. Enter "delete" in the confirmation field.

1. Select the **Delete** button.

# Exporting device details
<a name="exporting-device-details"></a>

1. Select the device from which you want to export the details. You can either browse through the dropdown list or you can search for the device by using the search field.

1. Select the **Actions** button.

1. Select **Export device details** from the dropdown list. The details for the selected device download in a spreadsheet format.

## Your Amazon WorkSpaces Thin Client - Data generated by the use of the device
<a name="data-governance"></a>

Your Amazon WorkSpaces Thin Client generates and collects data about your interactions with it.

**Types of Data:** Your Amazon WorkSpaces Thin Client generates data about device performance, usage patterns, and interactions with other AWS services. This includes technical data (like status and settings), usage data (such as log-in time stamps), and diagnostics data (such as system log where relevant).

**Data Volume & Collection:** The amount of data generated varies based on how you use your device and services. Data is collected continuously during device operation.

**Data Storage:** Data from your device is stored securely on the device itself or on AWS servers. It is stored in structured, machine-readable formats.

**Data Access:** You can access your device data through your AWS account following instructions listed [here](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/workspaces-thin-client/latest/ag/device-details.html). **Data sharing with others:** AWS does not share your device data with third parties.
