Design principles - Games Industry Lens

Design principles

Sustainability for the games industry is evolving at diverse rates in different Regions of the world. With sustainable power in large swaths of North America and sustainability mandates in EU and UK, architects have several approaches to achieving greener workloads in the near future. The Well-Architected sustainability pillar can be used to achieve these measures for a wide variety of workloads.

This section of the lens describes several best practices that may be used for games workloads.

  • Select the appropriate storage type for games user data.

  • Be aware of data lifecycle policies that will de-duplicate data and purge unneeded data from your workloads.

  • Be selective about right-sizing the deployment of compute resources.

  • Use serverless for brief and transactional processes.
