Setting up your account to use the services - AWS WAF, AWS Firewall Manager, AWS Shield Advanced, and AWS Shield network security director

Introducing a new console experience for AWS WAF

You can now use the updated experience to access AWS WAF functionality anywhere in the console. For more details, see Working with the console.

Setting up your account to use the services

This topic describes preliminary steps, such as creating an account, to prepare you to use AWS WAF, AWS Firewall Manager, and AWS Shield Advanced. You aren't charged for these preliminary items. You are charged only for AWS services that you use.

Sign up for an AWS account

To get started with AWS, you need an AWS account. There are two ways to sign up for AWS. If you want complete control over account configuration and where your content is stored, or if you have regulated workloads such as HIPAA or FedRAMP, use Sign up for AWS (advanced). If you are a new user and want to use a login you already own to sign in to AWS and create an AWS environment with preconfigured defaults in select AWS Regions, use Sign up for AWS.
