# STL\$1DIST
<a name="r_STL_DIST"></a>

Logs information about network activity during execution of query steps that distribute data. Network traffic is captured by numbers of rows, bytes, and packets that are sent over the network during a given step on a given slice. The duration of the step is the difference between the logged start and end times.

To identify distribution steps in a query, look for dist labels in the QUERY\$1SUMMARY view or run the EXPLAIN command and then look for step attributes that include dist.

STL\$1DIST is visible to all users. Superusers can see all rows; regular users can see only their own data. For more information, see [Visibility of data in system tables and views](cm_chap_system-tables.md#c_visibility-of-data).

**Note**  
STL\$1DIST only contains queries run on main provisioned clusters. It doesn't contain queries run on concurrency scaling clusters or on serverless namespaces. To access explain plans for queries run on both main clusters, concurrency scaling clusters, and serverless namespaces, we recommend that you use the SYS monitoring view [SYS\$1QUERY\$1DETAIL](SYS_QUERY_DETAIL.md) . The data in the SYS monitoring view is formatted to be easier to use and understand.

The following example returns distribution information for queries with one or more packets and duration greater than zero.
