Synopsis

Calls the AWS Resource Groups Tagging API UntagResources API operation.

Description

Removes the specified tags from the specified resources. When you specify a tag key, the action removes both that key and its associated value. The operation succeeds even if you attempt to remove tags from a resource that were already removed. Note the following:
  • To remove tags from a resource, you need the necessary permissions for the service that the resource belongs to as well as permissions for removing tags. For more information, see the documentation for the service whose resource you want to untag.
  • You can only tag resources that are located in the specified Amazon Web Services Region for the calling Amazon Web Services account.
Minimum permissions In addition to the tag:UntagResources permission required by this operation, you must also have the remove tags permission defined by the service that created the resource. For example, to remove the tags from an Amazon EC2 instance using the UntagResources operation, you must have both of the following permissions:
  • tag:UntagResource
  • ec2:DeleteTags

-ResourceARNList <String[]>
Specifies a list of ARNs of the resources that you want to remove tags from.An ARN (Amazon Resource Name) uniquely identifies a resource. For more information, see Amazon Resource Names (ARNs) and Amazon Web Services Service Namespaces in the Amazon Web Services General Reference. Starting with version 4 of the SDK this property will default to null. If no data for this property is returned from the service the property will also be null. This was changed to improve performance and allow the SDK and caller to distinguish between a property not set or a property being empty to clear out a value. To retain the previous SDK behavior set the AWSConfigs.InitializeCollections static property to true.

Use the -Select parameter to control the cmdlet output. The default value is 'FailedResourcesMap'. Specifying -Select '*' will result in the cmdlet returning the whole service response (Amazon.ResourceGroupsTaggingAPI.Model.UntagResourcesResponse). Specifying the name of a property of type Amazon.ResourceGroupsTaggingAPI.Model.UntagResourcesResponse will result in that property being returned. Specifying -Select '^ParameterName' will result in the cmdlet returning the selected cmdlet parameter value.

Specifies a list of tag keys that you want to remove from the specified resources. Starting with version 4 of the SDK this property will default to null. If no data for this property is returned from the service the property will also be null. This was changed to improve performance and allow the SDK and caller to distinguish between a property not set or a property being empty to clear out a value. To retain the previous SDK behavior set the AWSConfigs.InitializeCollections static property to true.

If the profile is not found then the cmdlet will search in the ini-format credential file at the default location: (user's home directory)\.aws\credentials.If this parameter is specified then this cmdlet will only search the ini-format credential file at the location given.As the current folder can vary in a shell or during script execution it is advised that you use specify a fully qualified path instead of a relative path.

This cmdlet returns a collection of System.String objects. The service call response (type Amazon.ResourceGroupsTaggingAPI.Model.UntagResourcesResponse) can be returned by specifying '-Select *'.

Remove-RGTResourceTag -ResourceARNList $arn1,$arn2 -TagKey "stage","version"
Removes the tag keys "stage" and "version", and the associated values, from an Amazon S3 bucket and an Amazon DynamoDB table. A single call is made to the service to remove the tags. Before the tags are removed the cmdlet will prompt for confirmation. To bypass confirmation add the -Force parameter.
