# Amazon MSK configuration states

An Amazon MSK configuration can be in one of the following states. To perform an operation on a configuration, the configuration must be in the `ACTIVE` or `DELETE_FAILED` state:
+ `ACTIVE`
+ `DELETING`
+ `DELETE_FAILED`
