Billing Transfer FAQ for AWS Marketplace Sellers
Billing transfer allows a management account to designate an external management account to manage and pay for its consolidated bill. This centralizes billing while maintaining security management autonomy. To set up billing transfer, an external account (bill transfer account) sends a billing transfer invitation to a management account (bill source account). If the invitation is accepted, the external account becomes the bill transfer account. The bill transfer account then manages and pays for the bill source account's consolidated bill, starting on the date specified in the invitation.
This FAQ addresses common questions for sellers who list products on AWS Marketplace and have designated an external management account as their bill transfer account.

No. Your AWS Marketplace selling activities remain completely separate from your billing transfer status. Your marketplace listing fees and seller-related charges will continue to be billed directly to you, not transferred to your Channel Partner's bill transfer account.
Will my AWS Solution Provider or AWS Distributor see my marketplace selling revenue or fees?
No. Your channel partner will not have visibility into your marketplace seller fees, taxes withheld, or disbursements.
How does billing transfer affect my marketplace listing fees?
Your marketplace listing fees are not transferred when using billing transfer. These fees will continue to be invoiced directly to your account.
Whose tax profile is used for my marketplace selling activities?
Your AWS account's tax profile is always used for marketplace selling activities. Even when using billing transfer, your AWS account remains the seller of record for tax purposes, and all tax calculations use your AWS management account's location and tax profile.
Where will I receive tax documentation related to my marketplace sales?
All tax documentation related to your selling activities will continue to be delivered exclusively to your AWS management account.
If I both sell on AWS Marketplace and use AWS services, how does billing work?
Your AWS service consumption invoices transfer to the Bill-Transfer account established in billing transfer. Your marketplace selling-related invoices will continue to be delivered to your AWS management account.
Do I need to take any special action to separate my selling activities from billing transfer?
No. The separation happens automatically when using billing transfer and AWS Marketplace.
How do I access my seller reports and financial information?
You can continue accessing your seller reports and financial information exactly as you did before. Your seller account management remains unchanged when using billing transfer.
What if I purchase products from AWS Marketplace as a buyer?

No. Your marketplace selling activities, including sales performance, revenue, and customer information, are not visible to your Channel Partner by default.
Do I need to update my tax information differently now that I use billing transfer?
You should continue to keep your tax information current for your marketplace selling operations. Your tax profile for selling activities is independent of your billing transfer relationship.
