# Set up an AWS account

Before you use Kinesis Video Streams with WebRTC for the first time, complete the following tasks:

## Sign up for an AWS account

To get started with AWS, you need an AWS account. For information about creating an AWS account, see [Getting started with an AWS account](https://docs.aws.amazon.com//accounts/latest/reference/getting-started.html) in the *AWS Account Management Reference Guide*.

## Create an AWS account key
<a name="set-up-account-key"></a>

You need an AWS account key to access Kinesis Video Streams with WebRTC programmatically. 

To create an AWS account key, do the following:

1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console and open the IAM console at [https://console.aws.amazon.com/iam/](https://console.aws.amazon.com/iam/).

1. Choose **Users** in the navigation bar, and choose the **Administrator** user. 

1. Choose the **Security credentials** tab, and choose **Create access key**.

1. Record the **Access key ID**. Choose **Show** under **Secret access key**, and then record the **Secret access key**.
